Sail for Success Sharing Leadership and Branding Insights at PRSA Western District
The recent PRSA Western District Conference event brought together public relations and communications professionals from across the western United States, including California, Arizona, Nevada, and Hawaii.
During our session, “Sail for Success: Elevate Your Voice, Brand, and Career,” we shared authentic stories and practical insights on personal branding and leadership for PR professionals. From leading before you have the title to building visibility with intention, the discussion focused on how communicators can step into leadership at every stage of their careers.
The panel featured Rachel Dickman, MBA, APR, Founder & CEO of RMG Communications; Liselle DeGrave, APR, President of DeGrave Communications; Melody Hendrickson, Department Public Information Officer for the Riverside County Executive Office; Kevin Strauss, APR, Communications Manager at SCV Water; and Amy McKenzie, Director of Communications for the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office. Additionally, the panel represented three different PRSA chapters within the Western District, offering diverse perspectives and experiences from across the region.
One of the biggest takeaways from the session? Leadership and brand aren’t about self-promotion; they’re about credibility, consistency, and how you show up when it matters most.
We’re grateful to PRSA Western District for the opportunity to connect with colleagues, share ideas, and continue conversations that strengthen our profession.
